What Real Clients Say About C&L Ward

April 24, 2026 | By Pat Ward

What do homeowners say after working with C&L Ward? Do they think their project was worth the cost? Would they recommend it to a friend? What do they wish had been changed or improved?

If you’re considering working with C&L Ward and want an honest, real-world perspective, this article breaks down both the positive and negative feedback we’ve received, and what we’ve done to improve.

In this article, we look at some of the good and not-so-good reviews clients have left us to give you a better idea of what our clients value, what real people are saying about C&L Ward, how we strive to improve, and whether or not C&L Ward is the right choice for you.

Why Are Client Reviews Important to Us?

If you’re reading this article, you likely already know why reviews are so valued by prospective clients. You want to find out what it’s like to work with a company before you commit to hiring them.

We also look at our reviews. Feedback is how we improve, and we read every response we receive. We often respond, and always look to see what our clients are saying. We don’t just highlight positive reviews; we actively study negative feedback to identify where we need to improve.

For this article, we went back to January 1st of 2024 and analyzed all of the reviews we’ve earned on Google and GuildQuality.

We decided to analyze Google because the platform is easy to access and widely used by clients. We also included GuildQuality because these reviews come from surveys of verified clients.

What C&L Ward Clients Care About (It’s Not Just the Product)

We pulled nearly 800 reviews from the past two years to find what our clients care about. We took the 100 most-used words across all of these reviews and made note of the ones that stood out. We found that our clients typically expect a few things:

  1. Professionalism

The word “professional” appeared in nearly 150 positive reviews. Homeowners don’t just want a contractor who knows what they’re doing; homeowners want a contractor who respects them and their home.

  1. Quality

The word “quality” appeared in close to 100 positive reviews. Clients mentioned the quality of both workmanship and materials. Both are equally important–a good product is worthless if installed incorrectly, and a good installation can’t make up for a poor product.

  1. Time

The word “time” appeared in more than 100 reviews. Many clients noted that installers not only arrived promptly, but also took the time to explain their work and answer any questions the client had.

What Do Clients Like About C&L Ward?

Now that we know what our clients expect from C&L Ward, we can take a look at some of the common themes from positive client reviews:

  1. Punctual service

It may seem small, but it’s mentioned frequently in reviews. Clients appreciate that C&L Ward installers show up on time.

“The workers were on time and pleasant to work with. When the work was completed, I did a walk-around with Steve and felt like everything was well done, although Stacy called after that to make sure I was satisfied, and whether I had any other concerns.”

John B. | Davison, MI | Jan. 06, 2024

  1. Knowledgeable and friendly installers

Our clients often mention their installers by name. This is indicative of the trust our installers and clients build.

One installer, Chad, was mentioned in so many positive reviews that his name appeared in the list of 100 most used words across all reviews since 2024!

“The whole experience with C&L Ward was great, from purchasing to install. The install crew was the most professional crew that has ever worked in my homes. Chad the lead installer was exceptional, he keep us informed, answered any of our questions, and was both teacher and boss of his crew. Will highly recommend C&L Ward to friends and family.”
Brian L.

Many reviews also mention other employees by name, adding that they are both “knowledgeable” (41 reviews) and “friendly” (64 reviews).

  1. Questions

Building off that trust, many clients mentioned feeling comfortable asking questions and knowing they were going to receive an answer.

“They were very efficient, they were here on time, they took care of business, answered my questions when I had them, and I was very pleased with how they handled the job.”
Margery S. | Waterford, MI | Apr. 04, 2025

When undergoing a major home project, you want to be able to trust every step of the process and understand the ‘why’ behind all decisions—without judgement.

What Do Clients Dislike About C&L Ward?

We also look at negative reviews. We see these as valuable feedback on how to improve, and we do our best to listen. We noticed a few consistent areas for improvement that show up in our negative reviews:

  1. Price

While many positive reviews expressed a reasonable price, some reviewers said they were uncertain if C&L Ward offered a fair price or said our quotes were too high.

“I wasn’t sure if the price was good.”

Oxford, MI | Feb. 22, 2024

Others mentioned wanting clearer pricing upfront, rather than receiving multiple discounts throughout the estimate.

“…wish they would be upfront with the pricing from the get go instead of giving us ‘discounts’ here and there.”

Lauren Weidman | 2025

  1. Communication

A number of reviews expressed concerns with our communications during and follow-up after a project had been completed.

“I would have liked more communication.”

Pam M. | Sterling Heights, MI | Feb. 08, 2026

“Not much of a follow up after job was done… Rather disappointed with the lack of contact.”

Mike B. | Saginaw, MI | Sep. 29, 2025

  1. How We Leave a Site

In our reviews, we found that the cleanup of our in-home work (windows, doors) often received praise. Work that took place outside of the home, however, had more negative comments.

In particular, we noticed remarks about our dumpsters and the state of yards following decking projects.

“Our driveway now has scrape marks and rust stains from their dumpster. Our yard was left with tire ruts and bare mud spots.”

Bradley B.

How We Work to Improve and Earn Back Trust

We don’t just read our negative reviews; we strive to learn from them. When a client is unhappy, we want to earn back their trust and avoid making similar mistakes in the future. Some of the steps we’ve taken include:

  • Introducing the TruePrice Promise™
    • We heard the feedback around pricing and promotions. In 2026, we introduced our TruePrice Promise — a move away from discount-driven sales toward clear, consistent, upfront pricing.

Every customer receives a fair price from the start — no pricing games, no gimmicks.

      • This makes it easy to get a quick idea of what your project might cost, right from our website.
  • Improving Communication
      • In 2026, we made a significant investment in how we communicate with our customers. We implemented a new CRM system and expanded our team to ensure more consistent updates before, during, and after each project. Our goal is simple: clearer communication at every step, and no customer left wondering what comes next.
  • Setting honest expectations
    • We build decks — not landscapes. Some impact to your yard is unavoidable during construction. Heavy materials, equipment, and foot traffic can create wear paths, tire marks, or disturbed grass. While we work to minimize this, it wouldn’t be honest to promise zero impact.

What we can promise is transparency. We’re improving how we communicate what to expect before the project begins, including how access, equipment, and dumpsters may affect your property.

  • Re-launching our Blog
    • In line with improving transparency, we’ve resumed posting blogs and are in the process of launching a website Learning Center. Here, we share articles and videos that help to explain timelines, warranties, cost, and other relevant topics to help buyers make informed, educated decisions.

Client Reviews We Strive to Replicate

A good review is proof of a job well done. These reviews represent the experience we aim to deliver consistently. These are a few of our favorites from satisfied C&L Ward clients:

“I personally have never seen this type of professionalism in any area of business in my life. The team was so incredible, on time, honest, and hard working. From following up with me on the project to dates and times, EVERYTHING was on point. It truly has been a pleasure and we are customers for life.”

Nate Z. | West Bloomfield, MI | Feb. 08, 2026

“I had three people come out; they were on time, continuously worked, and were very conscious of the environment in the house. Made sure any cleanup was done properly, very respectful, communicated with me, and kept me informed on what they were doing. I think C&L Ward should compliment these individuals. They were excellent when they worked here. I have high praises for these three men.”

 — Rose L. | Mayville, MI | Dec. 27, 2024

“C&L Ward conducted themselves in a professional yet friendly manner. They were on time with the work they did, the quality was outstanding, and any post-construction issues discovered were quickly resolved. My house looks beautiful, and I would strongly recommend using C&L Ward for anyone looking for new siding.”

Lars N. | Farmington Hills, MI | Nov. 19, 2024

“They did a wonderful job, and I can’t say enough. This is the second time I’ve used them for home improvement, and I picked them the second time because they did so well with the first. The second one was a very good experience as well. I’m very satisfied with their work.”

James D. | South Lyon, MI | Nov. 06, 2024

“We would 100% recommend C&L Ward to anyone looking to have a deck installed. The process from start to finish was excellent. Everyone we worked with was friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to communicate with. We could not be happier with the finished product. Hire them. It’s worth it.”

Julie S. | Commerce Township, MI | Aug. 10, 2024
