Community Involvement in Michigan
C&L Ward has been part of Michigan’s neighborhoods since 1972. We believe a strong community is built the same way a well-made home is — through dedication, care, and showing up year after year. From free roof giveaways to food drives and youth sponsorships, here’s how our team gives back.

Camp Hope
Camp Hope is a free, three-day camp through Wellspring for children ages 6–17 who have experienced the loss of a loved one. C&L Ward is grateful to support Camp Hope through fundraisers, helping provide a meaningful, no-cost experience for grieving children and families.
Shingles for Shelter
Each holiday season, C&L Ward gives away a free installed asphalt roof to a Michigan homeowner who has fallen on hard times. We understand the true value of roofing — and that not everyone can afford to replace a failing system. Our partners ABC Supply Co. Inc. and Metro Sanitation donate the shingles and dumpster for each installation. Recipients are selected based on roof condition, personal circumstances, and nomination quality.

Stuff the Truck
Once a year, C&L Ward hosts an event to stuff one or more company trucks with donations for those most in need. We collect non-perishable food, toiletries, warm clothing, blankets, household items, and monetary donations from our employees and the broader community. Everything collected goes directly to a local nonprofit serving families in need.
- 2018 — 3,027 lbs of food & essentials
- 2017 — 2,899 lbs collected
- 2016 — 2,653 lbs collected
- 2015 — 1,482 lbs collected
- 2014 — 415 lbs collected
Breast Cancer Awareness
Each October, C&L Ward employees raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Our fundraising efforts include themed T-shirt sales, in-office bake sales, a Penny Wars competition, 50/50 raffles, popcorn sales, and pizza lunches. We also participate in the Real Men Wear Pink campaign — where our team members wear pink and collect pledges throughout the month.
Owens Corning Roof Deployment
Owens Corning and its Platinum Preferred Contractors give back to the troops who bravely serve our country and the families who support them. The Roof Deployment Project is our way of building for the future together. John C. of Mt. Morris, MI — a third-generation United States Air Force Veteran — was the 2017 recipient of this project.
Little League Sponsorships
For more than a decade, we have sponsored youth sports across the communities we serve.

Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, “What are you doing for others?”

Together We Rise Community Service Day
Every child deserves to feel celebrated and loved. In 2022, we partnered with Together We Rise to host a community service project decorating Birthday Boxes for a local foster care center. Our goal was to strengthen the community by helping foster youth build their self-esteem.
On June 30th, we sponsored 100 Birthday Boxes — building, filling, and decorating each one as a team before donating them to a foster child. A Birthday Box is an all-inclusive kit that ensures children in foster care can feel seen and appreciated on their birthday, even amid the chaos of entering a new home or group setting.
