On September 1, 2026, C&L Ward announced a new community program: Windows for Warmth. The nomination-based initiative will provide the selected homeowner with new windows and professional installation, completely free of charge. 

Pat Ward, owner of C&L Ward, sat down with Fawn Near to discuss the new initiative and how to get involved.

Windows for Warmth helps one Southeast Michigan homeowner who needs new windows but, because of financial or other circumstances, cannot afford to replace them right now.

Ward said Windows for Warmth is one way to give back to a community that has supported the company for more than 54 years. 

3. How can a homeowner tell if their windows are failing?

Ward said there are many signs your windows need to be replaced. Residents might experience drafts or fog between the panes. They may look unsightly, be difficult to open, or fail to lock. 

4. How do I nominate someone for Windows for Warmth?

You can submit all nominations online at goclward.com/windowsforwarmth. You will be asked to complete a brief form and provide the nominee’s name, city, and your reason for nominating them.

Who is eligible for Windows for Warmth?

Anyone can submit a nomination. The nominee must be at least 21 years of age, own their home, and live within C&L Ward’s Southeast Michigan service area.

Nominations will be considered based on the condition of the home’s windows and the nominee’s personal circumstances.

At the end of September, C&L Ward will notify the selected nominee. A C&L Ward crew will visit the home to take measurements and inspect the existing windows before ordering and installing the new windows in time for Thanksgiving.

Yes. The installed windows will be covered under the same warranty and Peace of Mind Guarantee as all C&L Ward projects.

Fawn Near: As another Michigan winter approaches, C&L Ward is launching a new charitable community program to help a local household in need. Through the Windows for Warmth program, one deserving home will receive new windows and professional installation at no cost to them. To learn more about Windows for Warmth, why the team created it, and how the community can get involved, I’m here sitting down with the owner of C&L Ward, Pat Ward. Thanks for being with us, Pat. 

CEO Pat Ward, C&L Ward: Hey, thanks for having me, Fawn.

Near: Absolutely. Tell us a little bit about what Windows for Warmth is.

Ward: Windows for Warmth is a program where we’re gonna supply one lucky recipient a brand new house full of windows, completely installed for free.

Near: The whole house? 

Ward: The whole house. So it’s a great initiative where we’re gonna be giving one lucky recipient that owns a home the ability to update and upgrade their windows. 

Near: That’s amazing. What inspired you to do something so, so big? 

Ward: Really just our small way of giving back to the community. You know, we’ve been serving the community for 54 years, and they’ve been great to us, and it’s just a little way of giving back to the community, and especially a family or person that may be in need of new windows.

Near: That’s wonderful. So how does a homeowner know if their windows are failing? How do they know that they should sign up?

Ward: Well, as we say in the industry, ‘When you know, you know.’ When your windows are bad, they’re bad. And there’s a lot of telltale signs. The windows could be drafty. They could be losing the seals where they’re fogging up between the panes. They could be unsightly. Just at the end of the day, they could be uncomfortable, hard to open, whatever the case is. And people shouldn’t have to live with bad windows. At least that’s our feeling as a window company. So, a great way for someone to nominate, again, a family member, a loved one, a neighbor, a friend, themselves, for this great program. Near: It sounds easy enough. Couple minutes, quick form. How long do we have to nominate someone or ourselves?

Ward: Well, the program nominations are accepted through September 20th.

Ward: So we really, you know, have a couple of weeks here to get nominations in, and then from there, in early October we’re gonna be selecting a winner. We’ll announce the winner, with the goal of having brand new windows installed before Thanksgiving.
