Best Contractors With Vinyl Windows – Ranked for Southeast Michigan

August 21, 2026 | By Pat Ward

In the past, we’ve shared our picks for the “Top Window Installers in Southeastern Michigan in 2026.” Many homeowners have a specific material in mind and might be seeking more specific guidance.

If this sounds like you, looking specifically for the best vinyl window installers in Southeast Michigan, you’re in the right place. In this article, we’ll name our top 5 picks—and 2 honorable mentions—for the best contractors, ranked and evaluated by a variety of criteria that matters most to homeowners.

Table of Contents

The Best Michigan Home Improvement Companies With Vinyl Window Installation

Important: When information could not be independently verified or was not publicly available, the company received zero points for that criterion. A zero does not necessarily mean the company does not offer the feature, credential, or benefit; it means we could not verify it based on publicly available information at the time of our research.

Rank, Company, Overall Score 1: Wallside Windows, 9.23 out of 10 2: C&L Ward, 8.68 out of 10 3: HANSONS, 7.11 out of 10 4: Pure Energy Window Company, 6.16 out of 10 5: Homezone Windows & Roofing, 6.07 out of 10 Honorable Mention: Paramount Roofing, 7.98 out of 10 Honorable Mention: Shelby Construction Services, 6.65 out of 10

This list includes two Honorable Mentions. These are younger companies with smaller service areas. Given their size and scale, we did not think it was fair to claim these contractors fully service Southeast Michigan. However, these companies scored well and shouldn’t go unacknowledged.

You may have noticed that Renewal by Andersen of Detroit is not acknowledged. Although Renewal by Andersen often appears in search results for vinyl windows, it does not offer vinyl windows. Thus, it is not scored or ranked in this article.

How We Scored Each Company

Each company received a score from 0 to 10 in seven categories: reviews, license & insurance, timeline, cost, warranty, years in business, and vinyl selection.

We also indicate whether companies offer insert window replacements, full-frame window replacements, or both, and whether they offer custom or standard window sizes, or both. This information does not factor into rankings, as need will vary by project, but is disclosed so you can identify if they offer what you need for your home

Reviews

At C&L Ward, we love reviews. And we suspect you do, too. Client feedback is likely one of the first things you look at when evaluating a company. Here’s how we weighed them in this article:

  • 70% Star Rating
  • 20% Review Volume
  • 10% Recency/Consistency

Reviews were pulled from Google, though we also looked at BBB, GuildQuality, Angi, and other review sites when available.

License & Insurance

Companies received credit when we could verify:

  • An active Michigan contractor license
  • BBB accreditation
  • Published evidence of insurance, bonding, or both

Companies did not receive credit for credentials we could not independently verify.

Timeline

The timeline score evaluates whether a company shares an expected project timeline, and how long that timeline is. It does not measure whether every project is completed within that expected timeframe.

Published Timeline: Score 2 Months or Less: 10 2 to 4 Months: 8.5 4+ Months: 4 No Specific Timeline Published: 0

Cost

The cost score is based 70% on affordability and 30% on pricing transparency. Companies earned the highest cost transparency marks when they published:

  • A working calculator
  • Real price ranges
  • Factors that increase or decrease cost
  • Explanations of what the price includes
  • Clear warnings that the calculator is a planning estimate rather than a final quote

Warranty

Score: Standard 10: Exceptional published coverage: product/material + glass + installation/labor coverage; long-term/lifetime protection; transferable; actual terms readily available; exclusions clearly explained 8.5: Strong coverage across product and workmanship/labor, long duration, with terms publicly explained; may lack transferability or have a meaningful limitation 7: Good long-term product warranty plus meaningful labor/installation protection, but narrower coverage or less-complete published terms 5.5: Standard manufacturer/product warranty with limited labor/workmanship coverage, or good warranty claims without sufficiently detailed published terms 4: Limited warranty coverage and/or significant restrictions; important portions of the installed project aren't clearly covered 2: Company references a warranty/guarantee but provides very little usable information about what is covered 0: No warranty/guarantee information could be verified

Years in Operation

A new business isn’t necessarily a red flag, but it’s something to consider. A company that has been in business longer will have more proven experiences and earned trust. If a company has been around longer than the warranties they offer, they’re likely to still be around long after your project is complete.

Vinyl Selection

Score: Published Vinyl Selection 10: 4+ meaningfully differentiated vinyl series 8.5: 3 distinct vinyl series 7: 2 distinct vinyl series 5.5: 1 vinyl series with extensive configurations/options 4: 1 vinyl series with a moderate selection of styles/options 2: Vinyl windows confirmed, but product line/options are poorly documented 0: No vinyl window series offered

Best Contractors

These contractors have earned the top six rankings overall, based on our scoring system.

1. Wallside Windows

Best For: Timeline

Overall Score: 9.23 out of 10

Evaluation Category: Weight Reviews: 9 License & Insurance: 10 Timeline: 10 Cost: 8.4 Warranty: 10 Years: 10 Vinyl Selection: 5.5

Ranking Wallside Windows #1 for vinyl windows specifically was tough, but we at C&L Ward want to be honest about where our competitors stand and how we compare. Wallside has been around since 1944 and garnered thousands of reviews.

Wallside Windows earned a 10.0 for the speed of their published timeline, taking 6 to 8 weeks per project. Wallside also offers a transferable, 35-Year Factory Guarantee. However, they earned a 5.5 for vinyl selection because they only offer one vinyl series.

Wallside Windows exclusively offers custom window sizes and doesn’t sell standard sizes off the shelf. Wallside only installs full-frame window replacements.

2. C&L Ward

Best For: Licensed and Insured Employees

Overall Score: 8.68 out of 10

Evaluation Category: Score Reviews: 8 License & Insurance: 10 Timeline: 8.5 Cost: 6.9 Warranty: 10 Years: 10 Vinyl Selection: 7

C&L Ward was one of just two installers in the top 6 to earn a perfect 10/10 for verifiable licensing and insurance. All of C&L Ward’s window installers are company employees—not third-party subcontractors.

C&L Ward also offers the Peace of Mind Guarantee, a workmanship guarantee that lasts for as long as you own your home. While C&L Ward provides a transparent timeline, projects do take a few weeks longer than Wallside claims.

C&L Ward offers two distinct vinyl window series (Eclipse and Transcend), earning a score of 7 for the number of available styles and customization options. They also offer both insert and full-frame replacements, as well as custom and standard sizes.

3. HANSONS

Best For: Vinyl Selection

Overall Score: 7.11 out of 10

Evaluation Category: Score Reviews: 8.9 License & Insurance: 5.5 Timeline: 4 Cost: 4.1 Warranty: 10 Years: 10 Vinyl Selection: 8.5

HANSONS tied for the best score for window selection with three vinyl series, two of which have a transferable Lifetime Guarantee. They offer custom sizes only and provide service for both full-frame and insert window replacements.

4. Pure Energy Window Company

Best For: Reviews

Overall Score: 6.16 out of 10

Evaluation Category: Score Reviews: 9.3 License & Insurance: 5.5 Timeline: 0 Cost: 4.9 Warranty: 7 Years: 8.5 Vinyl Selection: 7

Pure Energy Window Company offers a 50-Year Transferable Guarantee on two window series. They offer both full-frame replacements (which they call New Construction Windows) and insert window replacements in standard and custom sizes.

5. Homezone Windows & Roofing

Best For: Vinyl Selection

Overall Score: 6.07 out of 10

Evaluation Category: Score Reviews: 8 License & Insurance: 5.5 Timeline: 0 Cost: 3.5 Warranty: 8.5 Years: 10 Vinyl Selection: 8.5

Homezone tied with HANSONS for vinyl selection, with multiple different offerings. Homezone’s GreenGuard Guarantee provides free yearly inspections on installations, in addition to transferable protections.

Homezone offers custom windows and, though its site doesn’t state this directly, seems to offer both insert and full-frame replacements.

Honorable Mentions

These businesses earned the title of “Honorable Mention” for a few reasons. While they all have impressive reviews, these are younger companies with smaller service areas. Given their size and scale, we did not think it was fair to claim these contractors service Southeast Michigan. However, their growth and performance have been impressive, and we felt that shouldn’t be ignored.

The ratings for these companies follow the same scoring system as above.

6. Paramount Roofing

Best For: Reviews

Overall Score: 7.98 out of 10

Service Area: 7 Counties

Evaluation Category: Score Reviews: 9.2 License & Insurance: 10 Timeline: 10 Cost: 4.1 Warranty: 7 Years: 8.5 Vinyl Selection: 2

Paramount offers Pella window products but does not clearly define series or options and displays only six window styles. They offer custom sizes of insert and full-frame replacement windows.

7. Shelby Construction Services

Best For: Cost

Overall Score: 6.65 out of 10

Service Area: Two Counties

Evaluation Category: Score Reviews: 8.7 License & Insurance: 10 Timeline: 0 Cost: 7.2 Warranty: 5.5 Years: 5.5 Vinyl Selection: 5.5

Shelby offers many vinyl window choices and styles with a variety of glass options. Their pricing page outlines project ranges, but they do not offer an online price calculator. They offer full-frame or insert installations for custom and standard sizes.

What A Window Installer’s Website Can—And Cannot—Tell You

A contractor’s website should tell you which products and options are available, but it should also share more than that.

Project Length

A contractor should be able to provide a timeline for the entire process. Based on past projects, contractors have an idea of how long their ordering and installation process takes. Their website should include a range indicating how long the full window replacement (not just the installation) should take.

A website likely can’t, however, give you the exact date on which your project will be completed. The exact date will depend on when you sign contracts, when your installation starts, and any hiccups that might pop up.

Who Installs Your Windows

How your windows are installed matters just as much—if not more—than the windows themselves. A company should be upfront about who is installing your windows. Do they use in-house, trained employees? Or do they use third-party subcontractors?

A company that uses its own employees should be proud of that fact and state it clearly on its site. Using subcontractors isn’t necessarily a red flag, but watch out for companies that don’t readily share who performs the work.

Warranties and Protections

Contractors should share their warranties online. The promise of a “50-Year Warranty” is great, but what does it actually include? Does it protect labor, installation, or the product itself? Is it transferable?

It should be clear and understandable what is covered and what is not. This might not mean the full, legal warranty is available online. But a reputable company should be willing to explain any warranty limitations and provide a copy upon request.

Cost

Companies might be able to provide exact quotes for certain items, such as the cost of a window part, but contractors will likely not provide exact quotes online.

The exact cost of your project will depend on the size of your window, the extent of the replacement, and other factors specific to your home that can only be determined after an inspection. Instead, they should offer estimates or ranges based on project type.

What Should You Do Before Choosing A Contractor?

Before choosing a contractor, be sure to conduct your own research. Read recent reviews, make sure the company offers windows that fit your style, and weigh what matters most to you in an installer.

It’s a good idea to get multiple quotes and talk to consultants before signing any contracts to ensure you get an expert who understands the scope of your project and budget. When you meet, ask about the information shared in the section above (cost, warranty, who performs the work, timeline).

A quality contractor will answer these questions honestly and be able to provide proof of license and insurance if asked. If they skirt around answers and can’t provide evidence of their work, that’s a red flag.

If your area requires permits for window replacement, avoid any companies who try to leave the permitting process up to you. Installers should handle this internally.

Frequently Asked Questions: Vinyl Windows and Installers

How do I know when my window needs to be replaced?

When it’s time for a new window, you’ll know. You might start feeling drafts, especially in colder months. You may see a rise in your energy bill, or visible damage to the window’s glass or frame.

Yes, windows can be installed any time of the year. C&L Ward offers window installations year-round, though some contractors may differ

No, vinyl windows do not need any special maintenance. Vinyl windows are a low-maintenance option and may only need an occasional clean with mild soapy water.

Vinyl windows typically cost less than other materials, such as composite or wood. They are more likely to fade than other materials and may not offer as many customizations as other window materials.

Yes, vinyl windows can be manufactured in a variety of styles and colors. “Styles” refers to the type of window, from double-hung to awning. Some vinyl window series may only be available in one or two colors, while higher-end series may offer more options at a slightly higher price.

No, you do not have to replace all your windows at once. At C&L Ward, we do recommend replacing all windows on the same wall of your home at the same time. This can make replacements less obvious, as slight discrepancies in color or appearance won’t stand out.

With proper care and a high-quality vinyl, vinyl windows can last 20 to 25 years.

Your window should be melded into one cohesive piece with internal chambers for added strength. The final product should feel sturdy, not flimsy, with double-pane, low-E, or gas-filled glass for thermal efficiency.

A single window replacement will take just a few hours, though replacing every window in a home may take a couple of days.

No, not all windows have a warranty. Different manufacturers and installers offer different warranties and protections, so be sure to find what options are available to you depending on where you make your purchase. You can read more about C&L Ward’s Peace of Mind Guarantee online.
