The home improvement tax credits for residential energy efficiency have not been renewed for 2017.
There are tax credits are available from 2016, as well as retroactive to purchases made in 2015. ENERGY STAR products eligible for tax credits are independently certified to save energy, save money and protect the environment. Details: Must be an existing home & your principal residence. New construction and rentals do not apply.

Applying for the Tax Credit
You need to file the IRS Tax Form 5695 and submit it with your taxes. You can learn on how to apply can by downloading Instructions for Form 5695.
After you purchase your roof, windows, doors, skylights or attic insulation from C&L Ward, be sure to save your receipts and the Manufacturer’s Certification Statement for your records. You will need them for your taxes.
